Hi my
name is Corina and I am part of the Year 12 Home Economics class. We were given
the assignment of establishing a way of promoting 'meat-free' foods into our
school community on the 10/05/12.
Part of
this assessment was to create a blog for use as a process journal. All of my
thoughts, ideas, opinions, reflections, advancements and my weekly progress,
will all be published within my blog. I will also include thoughts, ideas and
any other brainstorming work that has been done in class with the rest of the
class group.
I started
creating my own blogging site on the 18/05/12.
I have
been adding to this blog weekly, and on some occasions daily since then.
The URL for my blog was emailed
to my teacher, Ms Kreis, so that all URLs from everyone in the class can be
published on the 'mysclasses' school website in order for us to view our peer's
blogs and offer feedback, as they can now do with mine.

Reflections:
Today we wrote up a questionnaire
for the school tuckshop staff to answer. It was decided that instead of
interviewing the tuckshop staff and writing down their answers, that the
questionnaire would be left with them for the day and retrieved later in the
afternoon. This is because they happened to be busy preparing food at the time
and this idea seemed more convenient for everyone.
Group Work Ideas & Brainstorming:
Marketing & Advertising:
- Posters
- Movies (digital presentations)
- PA, presentation on assembly
- Promo clothing
- Newsletters
- Newspapers: talk to Mr Ryde
- Flyers
- Bookmarks
- Taste testing
- Word of mouth
It was decided that a competition would be run in order to reward the people who take the time to fill out the evaluation and feedback sheets as this is very important and helpful to us. There will be 5 vouchers to be won, each valued at $10 each. These are to be spent on Meat-Free Foods during the 1 month trial.

Introduction:
(& START Powerpoint)
Kerin: Good morning, we are the senior
home ec students. This term our assessment involves implementing a campaign for
the school tuckshop that focuses on sustainable eating. What is sustainable
eating you may ask? In order to be sustainable, food should be produced,
processed and traded in ways that:
- Contribute to thriving local economic and sustainable livelihoods
- Protect the diversity of plants and animals, the welfare of farmed and wild species, avoid damaging natural resources and avoid contributing to climate change and
- Provide social benefits, such as good quality food, safe and healthy products whilst addressing contemporary issues of special dietary requirements and religious beliefs.
Tristian: In order to fulfill these
requirements, our class is in the process of trialling appropriate recipes for
the school tuckshop, that meet the requirements of the Australian Guide to
Healthy eating, and are suitable for the school tuckshop. These recipes
include, pasta, spring rolls, pizza scrolls, lasagne, muffins and sushi, AND THEY ARE ALL MEAT FREE. Here’s a
little clip that tells you exactly why we should eat and produce sustainable
foods.

Lauren: On Tuesday the 5th of
June, during big lunch, we will be in Mary’s place for a taste testing of the
recipes we have cooked for the tuckshop. We invite you all to come down and
give our food a try as it is up to you, which of our recipes will be for sale
in the tuckshop. We have five $10 tuckshop vouchers to give away, that will
allow you to purchase our meals and all you have to do is trial our food and
give feedback and you go in the running to win a tuckshop voucher.
